Happy Birthday

I am not going to go on about how I should have updated this sooner. I am just going to do better from now on. Anyway. I had a birthday this past week and I just thought that I would share some of the goodies that I got. First off I got a dozen beautiful coral colored roses from my BFF and Sis. They are still beautiful after a week. My kids made me a cake and several handmade cards. They also gave me a great gift of an early bedtime that night. I also got a great box of goodies from my challenged sister. It had a Bella stamp, CTMH ink pads, two altering books, CTMH paper, sanding block and tweezerbees. Thank you so much to Lizzy. Not to mention the cards that came in from all over the country. Thanks to all the CFS ladies for the well wishes and the new stamps. It was a great birthday. I even ended the night with getting my second stripe on my orange belt in TaeKwonDo.

I hope to be updating my blog more often and sharing some of the work that I have been doing. I have done 100 pages in 2008 and I don't know how many cards. I have started my 2007 album and managed to keep my spending down. Although I couldn't refuse the Cropodile big bite the other day. I guess that was Happy Birthday to me.

We have arrived

Just thought that I would check in to let you all know that we have arrived. We made the long trip from Kansas to Virginia. We are unpacked and settled in. The kids have adjusted nicely to school. They have made friends quickly. That makes it nice for me.

Rick is at his new job. I won't say that he loves it but it is doable for a couple of years. Then he can get back to things that he enjoys more.

I wanted to share with you my latest project. I have been working the past two days on a bulletin board for G's school. I think that it has turned out nice. I still may add a couple of things but for the most part I really like it.

I did all of it with the Cricut using the Dreams come True cartridge. It was really easy to assemble. The font is Alphalicious. One of my favorite fun fonts to use. Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome.

Way to long

It has been way to long since I wrote on here. Sorry about that. But we have had a lot happen lately.

We are moving on January 12th. We will be going to Virginia. We are down to the wire to get things done.

I did do a few craft items for Christmas gifts, but wouldn't you know it I did not take a single picture. I did about 5 tins and a box that I filled with chocolates for the kids teachers. Then I did a card box that I filled with cards for a gift exchange at my sisters house. I will have her send a pic in when she gets a chance so I can post it.

I hope that everyone had a very merry Christmas and a wonderful new year.

The calm

Well it has been way too long since I have written on here. The crafting has slowed down to almost nothing. Why you might ask? It has been just way to busy here. Not only has my husband just returned from Afghanistan, but we found out the ARMY wants to move us. Which means the stress of moving across country, him leaving this job and the anticipation of a new job. Not to mention living in a new city.

We currently don't live in a city we live in a town. More like a village. We have a post office and a school. That is about it. We are moving to Virginia and will be outside of Washington DC. Talk about a change. Here in Kansas we have one elementary school. They have 35.

I feel like I am just overwhelmed at the things that have to be done. But they all can wait. I need to be working in my studio to help control my anxiety. If I don't use my cricut soon I feel like I will just bust. It is one of those deep down urges that you just can't control. We will see what we can do today.

I know this post has been a lot of rambling and not to the point. But that is what I feel like in my head. Things are just jumbled around in there.

Middle of a mess

I don't know what I was thinking. But this week I have decided to reorganize my studio. Let me rephrase that. My husband came home last week. He decided that since we are sharing a space again that my studio needed to be reorganized.

I don't know what I am doing. I don't know how to set it up to use at home, but still be convenient to take to crops. I love going to crops. But I also am enjoying the scrapping time at home.

What to do? I have all of my paper done and my eyelets and pens. The problem I have is with embellishments. Like stickers, Jolee's, prima's things like that. I had a sticker binder but it was too hard to keep up with. I just need a better system for the things that I have. So, if you have any suggestions. Please let me know. I will show everyone a pick when I get it all done.

Preschool

Today was G's first day of preschool. He was so excited that he wore his back pack all day long. I had to set a timer for how many hours until we had to leave for school. He loved every minute of it.

One of his teachers was his teacher last year. You will see in the picture above two pencil holders. These were our teacher gifts at the end of the year. I made them with 4" coasters. They were covered with paper. Then using the cricut I made the tags and the letters.

I was so pleased to see that on her desk this afternoon when I dropped him off. She said that she is the envy of the Preschool. Who knew that something so simple would be rewarding several months later.

I wonder what I can make this year to top it?

Happy Birthday Baby Boy

Today was my youngest son's birthday. He turned 5, it is hard for me to think that my little baby is getting to be such a big boy. Don't get me wrong I am very glad to be out of the baby stage and the toddler stage. But he is the youngest of three. I will never have another 4 year old. It is just the closing of an age and a beginning of another one.

We had a great time at some friends of ours house. We had a small birthday cake with a few gifts. He will have a big kid party after school starts for him. This will be with all of his friends. He was so excited for it to be his birthday today. He was shouting it out the window as we drove past cars.
It is also my mothers 60th birthday today. My son G had a hard time in grasping the concept of it being someone else birthday. It was his birthday, not her birthday. He finally agreed to share his birthday with her.

G wanted a pirate birthday cake. So I got to making one. I am not saying that I am a master cake decorator, or pastry chef or anything like that. Because trust me I have seen cakes that look better. But I thought this one was pretty cute.

I cut the Pirate, treasure chest and ship out with the cricut using the paper dolls cartridge. They were all cut at 4 inches. That is one thing I love about the Cricut. I can tell it that the boy is 4" and it will cut everything else in proportion to that object. I don't have to do the math or trial and error to get it the right size. Any way enjoy a piece of G's birthday cake.
