Happy Birthday Baby Boy

Today was my youngest son's birthday. He turned 5, it is hard for me to think that my little baby is getting to be such a big boy. Don't get me wrong I am very glad to be out of the baby stage and the toddler stage. But he is the youngest of three. I will never have another 4 year old. It is just the closing of an age and a beginning of another one.

We had a great time at some friends of ours house. We had a small birthday cake with a few gifts. He will have a big kid party after school starts for him. This will be with all of his friends. He was so excited for it to be his birthday today. He was shouting it out the window as we drove past cars.
It is also my mothers 60th birthday today. My son G had a hard time in grasping the concept of it being someone else birthday. It was his birthday, not her birthday. He finally agreed to share his birthday with her.

G wanted a pirate birthday cake. So I got to making one. I am not saying that I am a master cake decorator, or pastry chef or anything like that. Because trust me I have seen cakes that look better. But I thought this one was pretty cute.

I cut the Pirate, treasure chest and ship out with the cricut using the paper dolls cartridge. They were all cut at 4 inches. That is one thing I love about the Cricut. I can tell it that the boy is 4" and it will cut everything else in proportion to that object. I don't have to do the math or trial and error to get it the right size. Any way enjoy a piece of G's birthday cake.

Hi there. My name is Pauline and I came across your website this morning. I found the picture of your pirate birthday cake. I love it. I am in the middle of getting my daughter's birthday together - Snow white. I love the cut outs that you made. So my question for you, how are they made. I know you made them with your cricut but did you glue them onto card board? How are they standing in the cake? I hope you will be able to help. Thanks:)
Pauline.

Hi Pauline. They were so easy to make. I just made them out of regular card stock. Nothing fancy or special. I then taped them on to skewers that I cut in half and inserted them into the cake. I do know that Cricut has a snow white cartridge. So snow white and the dwarfs can be made. He loved the cake and I am sure that your daughter will love hers.
